The Vision:  Youth and Young Adults (ages 16-22) from St. Richard Church will gather together with Catholics throughout the world and participate in this international celebration by making a pilgrimage with the Diocese of Pittsburgh.  Committing to a year of preparation, young adults from our community will be ambassadors for Christ, returning to share the Pope’s message to the Church, “Rooted and built up in Jesus Christ, firm in the faith”, echoing the words of Christ’s disciples and living this call. 

Spiritual Preparations:  Young people from St. Richard Life Teen have the responsibility of attending Mass weekly, Life Teen at least once monthly, and praying daily.  As we get closer to WYD, these spiritual preparations will become more specific to help you get the most of this trip.

Travel & Official Preparations: As we get closer to the event, you will receive information about applying for a U.S. Passport and obtaining official permission to travel internationally with our group.  You will also receive information about flights and international transportation.  Adults traveling with our group will have to provide proof of PA Acts 33 & 34, as well as attendance of a Protecting God’s Children workshop. 

Payments and Fundraising:  Participants AND Parents are expected to participate in group fundraising, which should account for 1/3 the cost; solicit outside fundraising, which should account for 1/3 the cost; and personally assume 1/3 the cost as well.  As a pilgrimage group, we will organize and sponsor various fundraising opportunities.
